Tri-State Chapter Of The American Truck Historical Society Organizing In This Region
Web ExclusiveThe American Truck Historical Society announces the formation of the Tri-State Chapter of ATHS. Covered in this new chapter are eastern South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, and northwest Iowa.
ATHS dates to its incorporation in 1971 as a not-for-profit society “formed to collect and preserve the dynamic history of trucks, the trucking industry and it pioneers.” Today, ATHS is an international organization with 24,000 members and chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, and other countries. In 2001, ATHS purchased a building in Kansas City, Missouri, to permanently house its headquarters and the Zoe James Memorial Library which includes tons of truck company literature, a toy collection, donated trucks, and trucking company memorabilia. The Society publishes a bi-monthly magazine, Wheels of Time, and the annual Showtime magazine which pictures all the trucks displayed at the most recent annual international convention. With a membership in ATHS, you will receive these resources. Annual dues are $45.00
To share these and other related opportunities closer to home, local chapters are formed. These chapters gather to appreciate, recognize, and celebrate local trucks with truck shows, meetings where information is shared, and other ways of enjoying this hobby. We love trucks – old and new.
You are invited to join with others interested in the old truck hobby in our area as the Tri-State Chapter becomes established. Meetings are bi-monthly at varying locations and venues. Chapter dues are $20 annually. Membership in the international society is required to be a part of a local chapter.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this new chapter, join us at our next meeting at Vander Haag’s Antique Truck Museum at 106 Eastern St. in Sanborn, Iowa (Hwys 18 and 59) on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 A.M. Come see what it’s all about and bring a friend!
