Resurrected Ride
What once rested in pieces is now resurrected to ride. For the fifth year in a row, area sponsors have teamed up to put together the Nordstrom’s Resurrected Ride to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Each year, with the help of generous donations from area businesses, Nordstrom’s assembles a repairable vehicle. The vehicle is unveiled Friday, January 16 at 6:00PM at the Big Boy Toy Show. Ticket sales will kick off then for the fundraiser event and are only $1. Every dollar raised from the ticket sales is donated to the local chapter of the MDA. The Resurrected Ride will be given away at Automania in downtown Sioux Falls June 17, 2009.
100% of the time and materials it takes to professionally repair and customize the vehicle are donated. It all starts with a repairable vehicle from Nordstrom’s Auto Recycling. Anderson’s Collision Center then begins the “resurrection” process and does all the professional collision repair and paint work. Sturdevant’s Auto Parts provides the new body parts needed for the damaged area. Audio Playground revs it up a bit with a custom electronics package, tinted windows, and keyless entry. To complete the ride, Tire Pros then adds a custom wheel and tire package and Signs Plus finishes it off with custom sponsor logos. Other sponsors that bring the car to life are 103.7 KRRO and Backyard Broadcasting, Heckel Creative, Sander’s Printing, AutaBuy Magazine, Automania and Nordstrom’s “Under the Hood” radio show. Many other sponsors will donate additional prizes for the project. New this year is the addition of prize packages. Minnwest Bank has donated $1,000 for an additional prize to get the prize packages started. Besides the chance to win the 2009 Ride and $1,000 from Minnwest Bank, there will be many chances to win with gifts of goods and services from many area businesses.
The “Resurrected Ride” project has raised over $45,000 since it began.
The funds raised from this event allow MDA to continue to provide services to over 550 families in the South Dakota area. Families attend MDA clinic at Neurology Associations and also monthly ALS support group meetings held at Sanford Health. MDA also provides physical and occupational therapy, assistance in the purchase and repair of orthopedic equipment, MDA Summer Camp for kids between the ages of six and twentyone, and much more. Tickets are available by contacting one of the sponsors or by calling the Sioux Falls chapter of MDA at (605) 339-2728.
