A Visit to The Shed
Web ExclusiveIn April I was fortunate to accompany Marty Anfinson and two of his guys from Straight Lines Custom Restorations on a trip to The Shed in Warroad, MN. The purpose of the trip was to pick up a 1965 Buick Riviera from Bob Marvin, owner of The Shed, and bring it back to Straight Lines’ shop in Tea for a full restoration. I had seen several of the cars from Bob Marvin’s collection at the Winterfest of Wheels show in Sioux Falls, so I was excited for the opportunity to tag along on this trip.
The Shed is a classic and muscle car collection located right on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Woods in Warroad, MN. The first thing that struck me when walking in the door at The Shed was the size of the place: 24,000 square feet filled with just under 100 rare and unique classic and muscle cars! This place is truly car guy/gal heaven!
The front entry area was filled with mostly high-end Camaros, Chevelles, and Corvettes; several of these are the super rare “COPO” and “Yenko” versions. As you enter the main showroom, it’s almost sensory overload! Everywhere you look is another beautiful piece of classic automotive history. Virtually all brands are represented and there is a heavy emphasis on performance editions. Boss 429 and Boss 302 Mustangs, Shelbys, GTOs, 426 Hemi and 440 powered Mopars, ultra-rare big block powered Chevys, Z28 Camaros, GSX Buicks…you name it, and it’s likely in here. Also mixed in is a Hollywood production car or two, a presidential limo, and other unique classics. I spent about 10 hours over the course of two days trying to take it all in!
I’ll let the accompanying photos tell the rest of the story, but keep in mind this is only a sampling of everything there is to see in The Shed. The Shed is open daily from 10AM to 10PM and there is no admittance fee. (A free will donation is accepted.) Bob Marvin himself, or one of several car guys that help out there, will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. For further details, be sure to check their website or Facebook page. Whether you make this a destination trip or just happen to find yourself travelling across northern Minnesota, a stop at The Shed will make any car lover’s trip complete!
